  • Overview

    The Banquet Captain is responsible for supervising banquet servers and set-up staff as well as assisting with all group functions.

    Responsibilities

    Through the training process and your current experience, the following skills and abilities are required to successfully perform this job:

    • Supervise banquet staff to include servers and housepersons.
    • Calculate bills for group functions and turn into front desk in a timely manner for posting.
    • Train new employees on server or houseperson duties as needed.
    • Set up various styles of meals for events, including but not limited to sit down meals, buffet, and social setting.
    • Assist with break set-up as needed.
    • Provide proper cleanup during and after an event.
    • Assist guests with any special needs during an event.
    • Work with banquet set-up, servers and kitchen staff to ensure guest satisfaction.
    • Represents company in a courteous, efficient, and friendly manner in all guest and employee interactions.
    • Follows principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment.
    • Maintains work area, banquet rooms and equipment in clean and presentable manner.
    • Accomplishes assignments in a timely, neat, and courteous manner; creating new business by providing exceptional guest service.
    • Serves number of customers in accordance with company standards.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Ability to read and understand function sheets.
    • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, wipe, push, and pull
    • Ability to lift and carry fifty (50) pounds on a regular basis.
    • Excellent attendance and punctuality required.
    • Available evening and day shifts, weekends and holidays.
    • Must have sufficient mobility to perform assigned tasks within service time frames established by the company.
    • General math skills needed to calculate group function bills.
    • Excellent guest service skills required with the ability to handle guest complaints in a timely and efficient manner.
    • Previous server experience either dining room or banquets.
    • Willing to learn all banquet functions including but not limited to set-up and serving.
    • Previous bartender knowledge a plus.
    • TIPS certification also a plus, if not, must attend a training session within 30 days.

    Valid Driver’s License is required.
