    Assist the Human Resources Director in the day to day operations of the human resources department with an emphasis on recruiting and staffing operations. Provide direct oversight to the training and Community Recreation Center operations.

    Responsibilities

    1. Supervise the Hospitality Training Manager to ensure that orientation, guest service, management and compliance training is offered to meet company requirements.
    2. Ability to effectively present required training on reasonable suspicion, workplace harassment and legally compliant hiring practices as needed.
    3. Supervise the Community Recreation Center manager to ensure provision of a clean and safe Community Recreation Center, offering a variety of programming to meet the needs of a diverse community.
    4. Supervise the drug and alcohol testing coordinator and ensure that the Substance Abuse Policy is administered consistently.
    5. Assume responsibilities for the Human Resources department in the absence of the Director.
    6. Be available to all employees to discuss concerns, corrective action, employment, transfers and other issues pertinent to the employee.
    7. Provide counsel and advice to department managers/supervisors regarding human resources related issues with their personnel.
    8. In Director’s absence, approve employment terminations by reviewing reason(s) and documentation thoroughly with manager before taking action.
    9. Supervise and coordinate all recruiting efforts with the Talent Manager to include advertising, sites, dates, research, new market development, itineraries, costs, and approval of copy for advertising.
    10. Review and measure results of the talent operations and modify efforts and practices as required to ensure cost effectiveness and to meet staffing needs.
    11. Participate in domestic and international recruiting trips as needed.
    12. Oversee and approve offers of employment for salaried and positions; ensuring a legally compliant hiring process.
    13. Work with international applicants and agencies in recruiting of seasonal staff. Manage the J1 internship program.
    14. Communicate with departments on staffing needs and ensure that the talent department is providing outstanding support and service to our hiring managers and our applicants.
    15. Ensure that an adequate number of offers are generated to meet property needs throughout the year.
    16. Oversee the management of the recruiting web site and social media sites, and utilize appropriate internet recruiting sites to source an adequate volume of candidates.
    17. Assist with the development of the annual financial plan for the human resources department as requested and ensure areas under position’s control comply with same.
    18. Ensure proper administration of the Xanterra South Rim and Xanterra Travel Collection Policies and Procedures.
    19. Project a commitment to the company Sustainability policy.
    20. Responsible for property wide Director on Duty duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    1. A minimum of five years progressive human resources management experience, preferably in a National Park operation.
    2. Professional HR certification preferred such SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR.
    3. Effective communication and leadership skills in dealing with a diverse workforce.
    4. Demonstrated experience in domestic and international recruiting operations and ability to achieve and maintain peak staffing of 900 employees.
    5. Hospitality experience with demonstrated knowledge of position requirements for majority of hotel/resort, food & beverage, and retail operation positions.
    6. Knowledge of EEO/AA policies, FLSA regulations, and legally complaint interviewing and hiring practices.
    7. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS, LMS and ATS experience strongly desired. Experience with iCIMS is preferred.
    8. Experience with methods of pre-employment testing, such as Predictive Index, desired.
    9. Ability to give directives and ensure the administration and compliance of such directives.
    10. Possess or obtain an Arizona Drivers’ License, and comply with the company Driver Safety Program.
