    In cooperation with the Retail Manager, maintains oversight of the retail. Acts as retail manager when retail manager is absent. Provide excellent guest service for all, assists guest with any concerns, questions, or compliments. Greets our guests with a smile, operates cash registers, assist in unloading merchandise, stock shelves, and ensures the selling floor is well organized and clean. Cash handling experience is preferred. The season at Rocky Mountain National Park runs from approximately mid-May until mid-October. Candidate must be capable to work at an altitude of 12,000 feet

     

     All positions at Rocky Mountain are full-time seasonal positions, there are NO full-time year round positions. 

    Responsibilities

     

    • Perform all duties with respect to the Company’s Core Values, Mission Statement, and guest services standards.
    • Ensure that all cashiers are performing their duties properly; ring up all sales before taking money, call out amount tendered in “dollars and cents”, place bills on register, and count back change. 
    • Demonstrate and train good sales techniques by performing suggestive selling and add-on sales. Follow up with staff to ensure add-on sales are occurring.
    • Ensure that the sales floor is kept clean; which includes sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and trash removal.
    • Ensure all displays are kept stocked, neat, and clean.
    • Ensure that accurate helpful information is given to guests. 
    • Alert the Manager to shrinkage, guest problems and concerns as necessary. 
    • Assist the Manager to maintain accurate shop records: reports, transfers, payroll and inventory control.
    • Assist the Manager with scheduling, supervising and developing gift shop personnel. Assist in maintaining proper employee files and assist with evaluations (HIGs).
    • Ensure that registers are routinely cleaned. Report all register issues promptly. 
    • Ensure all employees receive informal feedback from their supervisor on a regular basis and written evaluations, periodically, in the How’s It Going (HIG) format.
    • Maintain a safe work area.
    • Dealing courteously with guests on the phone and in person.
    • Handling complaints & compliments with ease.
    • Make sure the guests experience is positive.
    • Maintain uniform and appearance standards. 
    • Verification of cash drawers and deposits.
    • Accurately count the store bank and make change.
    • Assist in making the required safe deposit.
    • May need to climb ladders as requested.
    • Any other responsibilities that are deemed necessary.

    Qualifications

    • Knowledge of Raymark POS system and ability to troubleshoot common problems. 
    • Able to perform all duties of a Sales Associate. Be accurate with cash handling, daily reporting procedures and inventory control. 
    • Able to coach employees to maintain high and consistent standards in the gift shop.
    • Understanding of a retail operation in a high traffic seasonal environment. 
    • Must be able to foster cooperation among a diverse workforce. Work well with all staff members.
    • Should have a basic knowledge and understanding of souvenirs, gifts, jewelry and other products sold within the assigned location..
    • Able to work with a minimum of supervision. Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
    • Demonstrate excellent sales approach and skills. 
    • Demonstrate awareness of general gift shop security and theft prevention. 
    • Able to stand/walk for a minimum eight-hour shift.
    • Frequently lift and carry cartons weighing up to 50 pounds.
    • Carry boxes/product up and down stairs at most locations several times a day.
    • Must be able to bend down or kneel to stock product frequently during a shift.
