    The Retail/Gift Shop Manager will oversee the Trail Ridge operation by maintaining the gift shop and dealing with guest problems and concerns. The Retail Manager is responsible for scheduling, monitoring payroll, delegating assignments, and supervising all gift shop personnel. Provide excellent guest service for all, assists guest with any concerns, questions, or compliments. The season at Rocky Mountain National Park runs from approximately mid-May until mid-October. Candidate must be capable to work at an altitude of 12,000 feet.


    All positions at Rocky Mountain are full-time seasonal positions, there are NO full-time year round positions. 


    • Perform all duties with respect to the Company’s Core Values, Mission Statement, and guest services standards.
    • Delegates tasks while leading by example.
    • Works alongside staff, leading with a positive and professional manner.
    • Respond authentically and positively to all guest complaints or compliments, with the objective of solving the problem to the satisfaction of the guest and management of Xanterra Parks & Resorts/Rocky Mountain National Park.
    • Proficient in Retail software/POS applications.
    • Proficient in warehouse receiving procedures, receive deliveries from suppliers and process the necessary documentation. Make certain that paperwork is routed correctly and in a timely manner to corporate controller.
    • Demonstrate and train good sales techniques by performing suggestive selling and add-on sales.
    • Responsible for gift shop physical inventory, product transfers, and RTV’s
    • Responsible for safe and cash banks. Be able to make change for cashiers accurately. .
    • Ensure all staff members are trained and performing well in the Raymark systems. Provide follow-up training when applicable.
    • Facilitate cross-training of staff to ensure shift coverages.
    • Ensure that the sales floor is kept clean, which includes sweeping, vacuuming, cleaning, dusting, mopping, and trash removal.
    • Ensure all displays are well stocked.
    • Maintain a cooperative working relationship with General Manager and other location department managers.
    • Alert General Manager to shrinkage, guest problems and concerns.
    • Schedule, supervise, and develop gift shop personnel.
    • Communicate with corporate buyers regarding product shortages and inventory needs.
    • Able to work with minimum supervision, evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays.



    • Knowledge of Raymark POS system helpful. Able to trouble shoot when needed.
    • Able to perform all duties of a sales associate, cash handling, daily reporting procedures, and inventory control.
    • Train, coach, and guide staff throughout the season.
    • Ability to analyze and react to budgetary situations.
    • Ability to creatively problem solve and select a course of action.
    • Ability to teach and motivate employees and supervisors to accomplish goals.
    • Ability to organize and prioritize workload and follow-up with specific time lines.
    • Ability to communicate in a positive, efficient manner, and hold individuals accountable for their responsibilities.
    • Thorough understanding of a retail operation in a high traffic seasonal environment.
    • Must be able to foster cooperation among a diverse workforce. Work well with all staff members.
    • Demonstrate excellent sales approach and skills.
    • Demonstrate awareness of general gift shop security and theft prevention.
    • Must possess a non-CDL, valid driver’s license, and a clean record.
    • Able to stand/walk for a minimum eight-hour shift.
    • Ability to lift and carry cartons weighing 50 pounds.
    • Ability to carry boxes/product up and down stairs throughout a day.
    • Must be able to bend down or kneel to stock product frequently.
