    Mammoth Hot Springs Naturally Different Logo

    The Risk Management Claims Administrator is a full-time, year-round position located in the Mammoth Hot Springs area of Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming.  This position is responsible for processing worker’s compensation claims and general liability claims for park guests and off duty employees, and developing and delivering injury report training to managers.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities of Risk Management Claims Manager

    • Expeditiously processes and files workers’ compensation claims. Reviews and follows-up on all work-related and minor accident reports.  Communicates on a frequent basis with claims adjusters to check claim status or provide additional information.  Assists employees with completion of paperwork and claim-related questions.  Maintains orderly workers’ compensation files and related documentation.
    • Records injuries OSHA 300 Log within 7 days as required by OSHA regulations.
    • Assists with coordination of return-to-work assignments for injured employees. This may require follow-up with the respective health care provider, location department manager/supervisor, and Human Resources.
    • Provide accident and incident report training, when needed, for managers on location. Training may be offered one-on-one or in a group setting and will be in accordance with the Learning & Development guidelines.
    • Work with in-park medical providers to ensure an effective system remains in place for necessary exchange of work-related medical information enabling successful claims and invoice processing.
    • Files general liability claims reported by guests and/or off duty employees. Files vehicle, boat, and food-borne illness claims.  This will require interface with insurance company claims adjusters, maintains logs of all accidents and reported incidents.
    • Maintains risk management forms, logs, and reports for parkwide data gathering and legal purposes; compiles and provides statistics as requested. Generates and distributes weekly (upon request), monthly, and year-end injury data reports.
    • Assembles accident and incident report packets, provides input on training and instructional materials, and updates forms and instructions when necessary.
    • Alerts Director, Risk Management to potentially fraudulent employee and guest claims, changes in claim status, and other trends or concerns as they become apparent.
    • Maintains an awareness of current workers’ compensation laws, OSHA recording standards, and other safety- and insurance-related topics.
    • Serves as a member and secretary of the Parkwide Safety Committee, duties including but not limited to, participation in committee meetings, submitting reports and recommendations on the status of work-related accidents, guest incidents and accident trends. Recording and typing minutes for PWSC Chair.
    • Orders office supplies and maintains Risk Management staff benefit tracking logs.
    • Ordering and park-wide distribution of all federal- and state-mandated labor posters.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Essential Skills and Knowledge

    • Must possess strong organizational, technical writing/editing, business communication and computer skills in Access and Excel.
    • Must have the ability to work independently to complete assigned tasks in a timely, professional and confidential manner.
    • Must possess the ability to develop and maintain positive and productive relations when dealing with the National Park Service, Workers’ Compensation Division and insurance adjusters, medical providers, Xanterra directors, department managers and other staff members.
    • Must be able to provide training information in both written and verbal form.
    • Must adhere to all established Xanterra and National Park Service policies and procedures.
    • Must have knowledge of general accounting principles.
    • Must possess a current and valid driver’s license.
