    Works closely with the Housekeeping Manager and Assistant Manager to ensure high productivity and quality control on a daily basis in all guest rooms and public areas. Ensures highest quality standards are met in clean, orderly, attractive, and properly stocked guestrooms and public areas. Assists Housekeeping Manager with support duties during Assistant Managers’ scheduled days off or absence. Must assist in other departments or with other job duties as requested or necessary.

    Responsibilities

    1. Acts as the Assistant Manager four days each week on the Manager’s and Assistant Manager’s days off and other times in their absence (see job description: Assistant Housekeeping Manager).
    2. Provide guests with the best in service, courtesy and care.
    3. Provide supervision of Room Attendants, ensuring that guest rooms and areas are cleaned properly and in a timely manner by inspecting guest rooms and areas continuously and thoroughly. Turns clean rooms into the front desk upon passed inspection.
    4. Communicate with the Housekeeping Manager/Assistant Manager on Room Attendant progress and concerns.
    5. Ensure that a portion of ready-rooms are being reported to the Front desk by 10:00 am and steadily throughout the day. All check-out rooms to be reported clean by 4:00 pm daily.  Stay-over rooms completed by 4:30 pm.
    6. Assists the Housekeeping Manager in the control of stock/inventories of supplies and linens to ensure adequate supply levels are maintained.  May assist in liaising with Central Laundry Manager on linen inventories and orders. 
    7. Assists in overseeing the sorting of soiled linen and the receiving of clean linen.
    8. Assists room attendants with cleaning and room make up responsibilities (see job description: Room Attendant).
    9. May be required to work Room Attendant shifts based on need.
    10. Assists Housekeeping Manager in investigating complaints regarding housekeeping services and takes corrective action.  Works closely with the Front Desk Manager and Location Maintenance personnel.  Writes work orders for the Maintenance Department. 
    11. Assists Housekeeping Managers in training programs in accordance with the Housekeeping Manuals.
    12. May render personal assistance to room guests in line of duty.
    13. Enforces and adheres to all company policies and regulations.
    14. Must complete mandatory training period after arrival.  The Housekeeping Managers will perform training that will include the review of the proper manual including the standards, policies, and procedures; and the understanding and training in use of approved/authorized chemicals in the daily cleaning of guest accommodations, bathrooms, public areas, and employee housing.
    15. Complies with Housekeeping standards, policies, and procedures learned during the training period.
    1. Enforce and comply with the correct use of chemicals and equipment as trained. Provide a safe working environment by reporting safety hazards and reviewing accidents and prevention at regular safety meetings. Retain knowledge of "Right to Know" laws pertaining to housekeeping chemicals.
    2. Complies with specialized clean-up procedures (biohazard, Hantavirus, bed and bat bug).
    3. Monitor the progress of Room Attendants each day: Cleaning to standard, finishing in a timely manner, comfortable with their job, etc.; provide feedback to the employees.
    4. Make sure all housekeeping employees follow uniform and grooming standards each workday.
    5. Comply with and ensure compliance with Lost & Found and key security procedures.
    6. Monitor duties of the Room Inspectors.
    7. Assist Housekeeping Managers in executing timely and responsive actions in correcting noted NPS deficiencies.

    Qualifications

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

    1. Effective organizational and interpersonal skills required.
    2. Effective time management skills required. Must have ability to organize teams to promote efficiency and monitor progress and quality control.
    3. Ability to meet deadlines for turning in clean rooms, reports, supply orders, and inventories.
    4. Ability to follow instructions and count accurately.
    5. Ability to work as part of a team. Effective interaction skills for supervision. Effective teaching skills.
    6. Knowledge of Company policies and procedures, willingness to enforce both.
    7. Ability to relate with guests in a courteous and friendly manner. Must be able to handle guest concerns in a professional and tactful manner.
    8. Must be friendly, outgoing, enthusiastic and courteous in dealing with guests and co-workers.
    9. General office skills, including phone etiquette and basic accounting skills.
    10. A valid driver's license with a good driving record is preferred.

     

    AUTHORITIES:

    • To recommend and implement change to improve the efficiency of Housekeeping operations.
    • To respond immediately to any unsafe condition.
    • To take necessary steps to ensure excellent guest service.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds as needed throughout the day. Frequent lifting and carrying of supplies and linens sporadically throughout the day.
    2. Making beds, bending, kneeling, stretching, and reaching as needed for up to 8 hours per shift.
    3. Standing for long periods of time, frequent walking up and down stairs, as well as in outdoor areas sporadically throughout the day.
    4. Pushing a hotel cart or cabin cart up to 50-75 pounds as needed.
    5. Working safely with required chemicals.
