    The Assistant Payroll/Analyst Manager is a full-time, year-round position located in the Mammoth Hot Springs area of Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. This position is responsible in assisting the Manager Payroll/Analyst in all areas of department responsibility, handling problems related to payroll and making independent decisions about payroll issues prescribed by Xanterra Parks & Resorts in Yellowstone.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities of the Assistant Payroll/Analyst Manager

    • Assume responsibilities of the Manager Payroll/Analyst during absence.
    • Provide labor reporting to Departments and Directors.
    • Have a thorough working knowledge of Lawson Payroll and Human Resources screens with the ability to research and make necessary changes. Work closely with Human Resources regarding Kronos – Lawson interface.
    • Ability to set up and run all necessary reports related to the payroll function.
    • Assist in accurate, but speedy, review of time records before processing, editing and finalizing the payroll run. Assist with sorting and distributing checks in accordance with the payroll schedule to ensure timely distribution.
    • Train and supervise one seasonal Payroll clerk.
    • Complete duties and responsibilities of full-time and seasonal employee as necessary, especially during the off-season.
    • Understand payroll deduction codes and the relationship to Lawson GL System.
    • Prepare and maintain an online Payroll Manual for use by all departments.
    • Provide payroll training for Yellowstone departmental support staff.
    • Research payroll records for outside agencies including social security and unemployment.
    • Attend required training courses.
    • Adhere to all safety, environmental, and ergonomic policies.
    • High level of attention to detail and strong emphasis on accuracy.
    • Confidential handling of work issues as well as all areas of the General Accounting Office.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
    • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance while on duty and in dealing with employees.
    • Other projects and duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Essential Skills and Knowledge

    • Accounting degree and/or related work experience.
    • Strong communication and people skills.
    • Strong analytical skills.
    • Motivational, organizational, and time management skills.
    • Knowledge of general office procedures.
    • Office machine skills, especially PC experience.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office, Lawson and Kronos.

    Physical Requirements: 

    The Assistant Payroll Manager works for the majority of time sitting at a desk.  Walking, standing and bending are required when documentation is to be put into or retrieved from filing cabinets.  Lifting and transporting up to 25 pounds is required for record storage.
