    Xanterra Travel Collection is the nation’s premier national and state park concessioner, operating lodges, restaurants and retail shops in many of our nation’s most spectacular venues. Xanterra’s business lines include hospitality operations in a number of US national parks and private resorts, a growing portfolio of adventure travel companies, and an expanding small-ship cruise line.

     

    The Business Development Manager will have primary responsibility for financial analysis and proforma development, as well as support due diligence and data coordination of Xanterra’s hospitality/travel business growth initiatives. Once established in the role, the Manager will be expected to take on additional responsibilities including primary responsibility for specific “deals” and participating in the sourcing of opportunities.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop thorough, detailed, reliable, and well-documented financial models to evaluate the impact of new acquisitions, national and state park concession contracts, and new business opportunities.
    • Perform financial analysis functions spanning a wide variety of areas including operating cost analyses, discounted cash flow and IRR analyses, and a variety of ad hoc analysis projects.
    • Perform, coordinate, and/or supervise market research tasks and accompanying analysis.
    • Assist with the due diligence process, including the maintenance of checklists and databases and coordination across various departments to ensure that necessary information is gathered, organized, distributed, and evaluated in conjunction with pursued opportunities. This includes monitoring and controlling data in Xanterra’s internal software application used to retain, share, and update new business opportunities.
    • Assist in the management of the deal flow process for new portfolio additions including attending appropriate site trips and meetings, reviewing and analyzing initial terms/letters of interest, supporting negotiation of letters of intent and acquisition agreements, and facilitating ultimate knowledge transfer to operations involving completed deals.
    • Partner with and support the Manager of Financial Analysis to (i) enhance the knowledge base and availability of data associated with operating assets and (ii) be a resource during busy periods (i.e. preparation of the annual consolidated financial plan).
    • Maintain appropriate target lists for strategic acquisition opportunities, as well as all data and files related to previous and potential transactions.
    • Assist other team members, including Project Management, and a range of corporate and property-level staff members with financial analysis of proposed development and ROI projects.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Must have the capacity to work in a fast-paced environment where project priorities, task deadlines, and assignments can change quickly and with little notice.
    • Must be a positive, assertive, and self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
    • Must possess very strong analytical and accuracy skills, a thorough understanding of financial concepts, and the ability and discipline to develop and maintain complex spreadsheets.
    • Must be extremely well-organized and able to process large amounts of data efficiently.
    • Must be able to work effectively with all levels of company employees and management to gain a thorough understanding of operating and financial needs and synthesize that understanding into the financial analysis.
    • Must have well-developed written and verbal communication skills and be able to maintain a positive and consistent flow of communication with key stakeholders.
    • This job currently does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities, but extensive interplay with various positions is required to proficiently execute this position’s duties.

     

    Education & Experience Requirements:

     

    • Undergraduate degree with a focus in finance, hospitality, real estate, or mathematics.
    • Three to four years of investment banking or private equity experience, or experience in a financial role with a hospitality, travel/leisure, or real estate portfolio. Experience with M&A strongly desired.
    • Experience with MS Office desktop software including exceptional MS Excel skills.
    • General accounting knowledge and a strong familiarity with financial statement analysis.
    • Experience working with an enterprise-based financial system is strongly desired.
    • Must be able to travel on occasion and must have a valid driver’s license.
