  • Overview

    This position is responsible for the safety programs,regulatory inspections, and compliance of the Mt. Rushmore Retail, Parking, and F&B operations.  This position also supervises the security staff of this location.


    1. Collaborate with General Manager, Corporate Risk Manager and business stakeholders in executing a safety program that promotes teamwork and demonstrates the commitment necessary to meet the standards set forth by law, the Corporate Safety and Risk Policies and general Safety Management best practices.
    2. Conduct safety and regulatory inspections throughout property/location.
    3. Record and document inspection, follow up and training using risk information systems and other technical tools as directed.
    4. Report safety performance metrics to management staff regularly.
    5. Identify “high priority” areas and communicate needs with management regularly.
    6. Conduct follow-up meetings to monitor progress on deficiencies.
    7. Review contractual requirements for our employee training program (XIQ). Meet with Regional Sustainability, IT and General Management to review development, implementation, and tracking of these programs to ensure contract compliance.
    8. Review and provide assistance in development of accident-prevention and loss control systems and programs for incorporation into operation policies of the organization.
    9. Conducts regular training with employees.
    10. Assist in development and maintaining of effective worker’s compensation program to include: Reporting, OSHA 300, investigation, follow-up and case management.
    11. Review, inventory, order and stock First Aid supplies throughout the concession building, parking facility, and dormitory.
    12. Review, inventory, order and stock appropriate personal protective equipment.
    13. Create and maintain an educational curriculum database, to include employee training records and aids/materials.
    14. Security oversight including the supervision of security guards. 
    15. Seek guidance from Corporate Risk Manager as necessary.
    16. Perform other duties as required.


    1. Experience in a safety or related role.
    2. A minimum of two years’ experience in a supervisory position overseeing three or more employees.
    3. Ability to work with minimum supervision and complete work in a timely and professional manner.
    4. Basic Information and analytics systems skills.
    5. Demonstrate the ability to develop practical solutions to problems using available resources.
    6. Effective communication and interpersonal skills including report writing and public speaking
    7. Possess valid state driver’s license.
    8. This position will be responsible for security guard coverage seven days a week during the months of April through September.
