  • Overview

    Professionally handles all calls, alarms and radio communication through the switchboard.


    • Process calls, respond to alarms and handle radio communication and other basic switchboard operations following Switchboard policies and procedures.
    • Possess a good working knowledge of all alarms and the ability to handle an emergency situation calmly and efficiently.
    • Provide Grand Canyon National Park Lodges property information to callers following Switchboard polices and procedures.
    • Use professional discretion when divulging information and activities to callers.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    • Previous telephone switchboard operator, PBX, dispatch or front desk experience helpful.
    • Excellent verbal communications skills and professional telephone etiquette.
    • Ability to maintain a calm professional demeanor under potentially stressful and/or emergency situation(s).
    • Ability to learn fire alarm systems and ability to read fire alarm panels.
    • Ability to effectively learn and utilize two-way radio communications and pagers.
