Under direction of General Foreman or Assistant General Foreman this position is responsible for ensuring the Car Cleaners clean the passenger car fleet for the railway to expected quality standards.

Responsible for effectively enforcing and ensuring that all Car Cleaners are complying with all Xanterra and Grand Canyon Railway policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, health regulations, environmental policies, and hospitality standards, as well as cleanliness standards with cleaning the passenger cars.
Responsible for making schedules and assigning daily assignments ensuring company goals are meant in an efficient and timely manner.
Responsible for training and enforcing the use of proper personal equipment and sanitary practices when performing general cleaning duties.
Responsible for reporting items which require maintenance or repair in a timely manner.
Responsible for effectively training Car Cleaners in their daily duties and responsibilities, how to safely use and operate hand and power tools, and to properly operate machinery to ensure tasks are completed properly while achieving goals and objectives of the Train Engineer Services department.
May also be required to perform cleaning duties to achieve daily goals which may include: vacuum and clean seats, carpets and upholstery, polish metal surfaces, sweep and mop floors, empty trash cans; regularly wash interior and exterior of the windows, clean walls, ceilings, restrooms, service areas and exterior of train car.
Responsible for filling fresh water tanks, and draining waste water systems using a mechanical pump truck.
Certifies and safely operates company vehicles such as mechanical pumper truck, trash truck, gene lift, sky track, and forklift.
Perform periodic walk-through of the assigned passenger cars; working closely with General Foreman or Assistant General Forman and employees to ensure, consistency in, safety and cleanliness is maintained. Looks for processes which may have opportunities for improvement and inform and seek approval from management.
May also be directed to clean Car Shop and/or restaurant facilities and when necessary participate in snow/ice removal program to minimize hazards and ensure safe working conditions.
Maintain and order inventory of supplies and equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
Must possess a valid and clear Arizona Driver’s License and be able to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Vehicle Policy.
Must be at least 19 years of age to perform job duties in a hazardous work environment.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the Car Cleaner Blue Signal Class.
Must be familiar with computer applications, e-mail, word, excel.
Must have good organizational skills with the ability to maintain flexibility in carrying out daily job duties, organize and manage multiple priorities and tasks while providing leadership to a diversified staff.
Must possess good leadership and communication skills to effectively motivate staff to the expected Xanterra’s standard of excellence in guest service.
Must be able to establish and maintain a positive professional working relationship with staff, co-workers, management, and other departments; by working together in a positive work environment.
Must possess good communication skills with the ability to and to communicate professionally, effectively and clearly face-to-face, via handheld radio and in written communication with all levels of staff and leadership
