Manage the location accounting operation, ensure accurate reporting of sales revenue, maintain the security of location monetary assets, and to supervise location accounting personnel.


  1. Implement appropriate procedures to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of daily revenue reporting, weekly flash reporting and monthly financial reporting to property and corporate management.
  2. Implement and monitor company policies and control procedures to safeguard all company assets.
  3. Supervise the revenue auditing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, retail, payroll, and cash operations.
  4. Coordinate the preparation and review of the property’s annual profit plan and forecast changes.
  5. Continuously monitor the variances from budget and provide insight and support to aid in the achievement of budget goals.
  6. Implement appropriate controls and audit procedures to ensure the accuracy of physical inventories and inventory valuations.
  7. Maintain appropriate procedures and records to ensure accurate and timely sales and use tax collection, reporting and payment.
  8. Coordinate the preparation and audit of annual financial statements required by the NPS contract terms.
  9. Complete and review balance sheets reconciliations for accuracy and appropriateness of balances.
  10. Maintain control over NPS concession fee calculations, utility pass through accounting and other property-specific reporting to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  11. Continuously analyze accounting operations for efficient and effective utilization of accounting staff.
  12. Review and respond to internal audit reports and facilitate the timely implementation of appropriate changes.
  13. Assist in project analysis and selection as part of the annual capital budget development. Review capital expenditures prior to approval and submittal to corporate and ensure projects remain within approved budget.
  14. Establish appropriate goals and objectives for the accounting department.
  15. Maintain good communication and relations with the corporate offices.
  16. Assist on special projects and other duties as assigned


Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. Work experience can substitute for formal education.       Minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA or CMA and National Parks accounting experience preferred, but not required.

Language Skills – Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Technical Skills – Ability to utilize company accounting and HRIS systems. Excellent analytical and Microsoft office skills a must.

Mathematical Skills – Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

Reasoning Ability – Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Work Ethic:       The individual must have the capacity to work in a fast-paced environment where project priorities, task deadlines, and assignments can change quickly and with little notice. The individual must be a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision while working within the guidelines set by their supervisors.
