  • Overview

    This is a full-time position in the Railroad Mechanical Operations Department. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: read and interpret blueprints, working drawings and sketches, good in math and layout, This position requires performing simple, routine, and repetitive tasks using standard welding procedures, tools, materials, machines, and equipment; ability to weld metal using stick, MIG, TIG, cutting with torch and plasma.

    Responsibilities

    • Fully understand and support Xanterra Mission Statement and Core Values.
    • Read and interpret blueprints, working drawings and sketches, performing accurate math calculations and layout.
    • This position requires performing simple, routine, and repetitive tasks using standard welding procedures, tools, materials, machines and equipment
    • Position requires working in confined spaces and standing for extended periods of time.
    • Safely operates machinery and tools, using required safety equipment and PPE, including various forms of respirators and eye protection.
    • Cleans equipment and work area using proper materials, and follows environmental policy and procedure in regard to proper disposal of hazardous waste materials and MSDS Sheets.
    • Follows instructions, responds to management direction, takes responsibilities for own actions and keeps commitments.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Must be at least 19 years of age or older.
    • Must be willing and able to pass a 3G welding test for certification.
    • Must be able to safely weld using stick, MIG, TIG, and demonstrate cutting with torch and plasma.
    • Must be safety oriented while carrying out daily tasks.
    • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, SDS sheets, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    • Must have the ability to demonstrate fabrication skills and finished product must meet visual appearance standards to meet company standards and exceed guest expectations.
    • Must be willing and able to work to achieve a 6G welding qualification within 12 months.
    • Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
    • A valid/clear Arizona Driver’s License is required to comply with GCR Vehicle/ Machine Operation Policy.
    • Ability to maintain flexibility in carrying out daily job duties, organize and manage multiple priorities and tasks.
    • Must be willing and able to work scheduled shifts, days, evenings, weekends and holidays; and overtime as required.
    • Previous 2 years welding experience in an industrial / railroad setting is a plus.
