Yellowstone National Park employees not only work hard, they play hard, too. Our summer season positions typically run from mid-April through late October.
Yellowstone National Park Lodges operates 7 a la carte dining rooms, 3 full-service cafeterias, 6 fast casual restaurants, 2 coffee carts and 9 cocktail lounges. Each of these operations function at high volume levels in order to accommodate the millions of visitors the park sees each year. Our company strives to use local and/or organic ingredients whenever possible, for both guest and employee meals.
Candidates interested in Front of the House positions in Yellowstone are drawn to the unique opportunity to work in the world’s first national park and should be enthusiastic about Xanterra’s sustainability initiatives and mission to provide ‘legendary hospitality with a softer footprint’. Our employees are not only highly knowledgeable of the menu and operations at their own location, but also possess a general knowledge of the park and its surrounding areas.
Candidates applying for front of the house positions will be considered for the following positions, based on experience:
Hosts set the tone for our guest's dining experience. Whether it is taking a dinner reservation over the phone or greeting guests in person, first impressions count.
Dining Room Servers work with our Hosts and Server Assistants to provide Park visitors with great dining experiences in our full service dining rooms. Prompt attention, a warm welcome, informative explanations of the menu options, and professional meal service are the basics of the position. Answering guest questions, directing guests to resources available to them, and sharing their own enthusiasm and knowledge of the Park take our service to the next level of excellence. Previous experience is required for this position.
Server Assistants help guests, servers and hosts in our dining rooms by clearing, cleaning and resetting tables and keeping beverage glasses filled. And, as with all of our front of the house staff, Server Assistants answer guests' questions, listen to stories of adventure and share their own enthusiasm for the Park.
Cocktail Servers offer our guests alcoholic beverages and appetizers in one of our many lounges or bars. Cocktail servers must have some experience and be 21 years old or older.
The Barista position requires a combination of skills that include great guest service and the ability to make a good latte! Hot beverages, including cappuccino, lattes and espresso, are prepared using our sophisticated coffee machines. Baristas in some locations also serve alcoholic beverages and must be age 21 or older.
Fast Food Crew
The Fast Food Crew members prepare and cook food, others take orders and exchange money to make sure guests receive proper food orders, others serve ice cream or bakery items, and others help bus tables and clear them for the next guest.
Food Service Attendant
The Food Service Attendants deliver food to guests that has been pre-ordered at the counter. This is a guest service position that requires good people skills.
