Overview

Wrangler

Yellowstone National Park employees not only work hard, they play hard, too. With over 2 million acres of land to explore, beautiful animals and half of the world’s thermal features you’ll never run out of exciting sights to discover! Our summer season positions typically run from mid-April through late October.

Yellowstone National Park Lodges operates 2 horse corrals and provides trail rides for thousands of guests in the summer. Our primary horse operation is based out of Roosevelt Lodge, while our other location is at Canyon Village.

Wranglers lead park visitors on one and two-hour guided horseback rides on established trails through Yellowstone’s backcountry. Stagecoach and Wagon Driver positions are filled by experienced horse men and women willing to work hard and care for our guests and our horses. For both of these positions, providing guests with engaging commentary on the areas they are passing through, its history, and the wildlife that live there is an important part of the job.  These teams of horses are large draft horses that require special skills and experience. For the safety of our horses, we enforce a weight restriction of 240 lbs. for trail rides and 280 lbs. for stagecoach rides.

Candidates interested in horse positions in Yellowstone are drawn to the unique opportunity to work in the world’s first national park and should also be enthusiastic about Xanterra’s sustainability initiatives and mission to provide “Legendary Hospitality with a Softer Footprint”.
