We are actively seeking candidates for our Summer 2018 Team who are looking to take a break from the daily grind and step into the peaceful environment of one of the world's oldest national parks.
Our operation features 2 separate areas within the Park - Rim Village and Mazama Village. We have 3 dining facilities, 3 retail outlets, a campground, cabins, and lodge. We also offer daily boat tours for our guests.
Southern Oregon offers diverse recreational opportunities for your days off - we have deserts, rainforests, mountains, marshes, and the Pacific Ocean is only a few hours away. Of course, the gem of the entire region is Crater Lake!
Summary: Handles all assigned maintenance work orders and preventative maintenance duties in a timely manner to ensure smooth and safe operation of systems and facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Performs all duties with ultimate goal of providing exemplary guest service.
-Reports to Maintenance Manager or Assistant Maintenance Manager in all areas of facilities, or systems, policies and procedures.
-Maintains positive and professional communications with coworkers, management, guests, and residents.
-Maintains positive and professional communications with National Park Service (NPS) personnel.
-Adheres to Company uniform and appearance standards at all times.
-Performs all duties efficiently and with a sense of urgency.
-Assists with seasonal opening procedures in the spring.
-Participates in all required training.
-Follows Company guidelines for guest service; greets all guests with a smile.
-Works efficiently and productively at all times with little to no supervision.
-Maintains high level of integrity and attention to detail at all times.
-Cleans up any debris or mess before leaving repair area.
-Ensures thorough completion of assigned general maintenance tasks in a timely manner with awareness of costs and sustainability measures. This includes, but is not limited to preventative maintenance measures; basic carpentry, painting, general repairs, vehicle maintenance, lighting, snow removal, basic plumbing, monitoring fire/life/safety systems, etc.
-Manages time wisely; cooperates with management to ensure priority is given to urgent work orders.
-Handles multiple call-outs or work orders, works independently or as part of a team, and responds to maintenance call-outs as required.
-Performs all duties as delegated via CMMS.
-Maintains relevant record-keeping and ensures any findings or incomplete projects are communicated to management in a timely manner.
-Answers phones and radio in specific timeframe; follow guidelines and uses correct greetings and etiquette.
-Communicates the need for a contractor or specialized serviceperson to management in a timely manner.
-Assists in monitoring and maintaining systems and facilities at all assigned buildings and locations within Crater Lake National Park and at Company-owned property outside of Park.
-Provides constructive feedback to management to ensure maintenance, safety, and efficiency needs within facilities are communicated.
-Acts as the secondary eyes and ears of public safety for the operation.
-Follows all NPS lost and found policies at all times.
-Operates equipment as directed and trained in a safe and efficient manner.
-Assists coworkers in the use of heavy equipment to ensure safety at all times; this includes loading, rigging, signaling, operating, spotting, and inspecting.
-Follows all specialized clean-up procedures (biohazard, Hantavirus, pest).
-Uses appropriate chemicals and tools for the job.
-Follows all federal and state laws, as well as Company policy, while operating Company vehicle(s).
-Ensures adequate amount of fuel is in Company vehicle at the end of each work day.
-Maintains cleanliness of Company vehicle.
-Assists with any furniture moving or transportation of large items throughout the park.
-Reports any vehicle incidents immediately to Chief of Engineering, Assistant Maintenance Manager, or Assistant General Manager.
-Assists with seasonal closing procedures for winterization of park facilities.
-Performs all duties in a safety conscious manner. Maintains a safe workplace. Reports all safety issues or potentially hazardous situations to the appropriate manager in a timely manner.
-Wears PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) appropriate to the task to ensure safety at all times.
-Performs all duties with consideration to the Company’s environmental commitment. This includes following all procedures related to spill prevention and clean up. Maintains awareness of natural resource usage.
-Additional responsibilities for Winter General Maintenance include, but are not limited to: trash and recycling duty and snow removal.
-Performs other duties as assigned with positivity and professionalism.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Qualifications, Experience, Physical Demands:
-Prior experience in seasonal operations or National Park(s) highly preferred.
-Experience with winterization and/or opening procedures preferred.
-Ability to work productively and efficiently while unsupervised required.
-Ability to follow directions, take accurate measurements, perform basic math/calculations, give clear instructions preferred.
-Valid U.S. driver’s license and good driving record required.
-Prior experience operating Bobcat, golf cart, vehicle with attached trailer, and/or truck with frontend plow attachment, all in mountainous terrain in adverse weather conditions, preferred.
-CPR and First Aid certification highly preferred.
-This is a very demanding job. Physically able to: repeatedly bend, lift, reach, pull, push, lift up to 50 pounds; perform all duties in dusty or dirty conditions; perform all duties in inclement weather (snow, rain, intense sun, wind, cold, heat, etc.); repeatedly climb and descend stairs throughout workday; use required/appropriate chemicals; repeatedly kneel or lay flat on the floor or ground; work a full shift getting only those breaks as required by Oregon state law.
