    We are actively seeking candidates for our Summer 2018 Team who are looking to take a break from the daily grind and step into the peaceful environment of one of the world's oldest national parks.


    Our operation features 2 separate areas within the Park - Rim Village and Mazama Village. We have 3 dining facilities, 3 retail outlets, a campground, cabins, and lodge. We also offer daily boat tours for our guests.


    Southern Oregon offers diverse recreational opportunities for your days off - we have deserts, rainforests, mountains, marshes, and the Pacific Ocean is only a few hours away. Of course, the gem of the entire region is Crater Lake!



    Summary: The Café Crew is a guest-contact, cash-handling position; performs all duties as required in a busy, but small, fast-paced food service operation to ensure excellent guest service. The geographical isolation of the Café from the rest of Rim Village requires that the Café Crew be able to effectively perform all duties independently, with minimal supervision and/or support.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    -Performs all duties with the ultimate goal of providing exemplary guest service.

    -Keeps all food preparation areas, tools, and equipment clean and organized.

    -Keeps all dining areas and service areas clean and organized.

    -Washes, cuts, heats, measures, and otherwise prepares food items such as soups, salads, sandwiches, rice bowls, hot dogs, and other items consistently, as trained.

    -Stocks and restocks work areas and guest areas throughout shift.

    -Greets all guests in a timely and friendly manner.

    -Answers phones and radio in specific timeframe; follow guidelines and uses correct greetings and etiquette.

    -Takes food and drink orders, and processes payments, from guests in positive and professional manner.

    -Follows all cash handling procedures per Accounting Department policies. Responsible for the secure handling and balancing of an assigned cash bank.

    -Performs all duties with respect to the Company’s Mission Statement, Core Values, standards, policies, and procedures.

    -Regularly checks the schedule so as to arrive on time and ready to work for all scheduled shifts.

    -Remains productive, present, and efficient throughout entire shift.

    -Participates in any training as required by National Park Service (NPS) or the Company.

    -Follows all Oregon Food Handlers and Company food sanitation guidelines, policies, and procedures to ensure food safety at all times.

    -Follows all Company procedures to ensure guest service standards are consistently met.

    -Maintains cleanliness and organization of all areas of the Café as well as the shared areas around the Retail Warehouse, office, and the Watchman Room.

    -Develops and maintains positive working relationship with Rim Gift Shop managers and staff.

    -Reports any supply or food needs to Café Manager or Café Supervisor in a timely manner to ensure that all items are available to guests at all times.

    -Ensures that the Café is ready to open 5 minutes prior to the posted opening time and stays open until 5 minutes past the posted closing time.

    -Adheres to Company uniform and appearance standards, including wearing nametag, at all times.

    -Performs all tasks, and interacts with guests and coworkers, with positivity and professionalism at all times.

    -Refers all guest issues to Café Manager or Café Supervisor so that they may be handled immediately.

    -Performs all duties with consideration of the Company’s environmental commitment, including: recycling, monitoring food waste and paper goods waste, and monitoring other resource usage.

    -Cooperates with Warehouse staff in keeping the Waste Management area clean.

    -Performs all duties in a safety conscious manner. Maintains a safe workplace. Reports all safety issues or potentially hazardous situations to the appropriate manager in a timely manner.

    -Performs other duties as assigned with positivity and professionalism.

    Supervisory Responsibilities: None.




    Qualifications, Experience, Physical Demands:

    -Prior experience in seasonal hospitality, especially National Park(s), highly preferred.

    -Prior experience working independently in an isolated environment highly preferred.

    -Working knowledge of any point of sale system and food handling equipment preferred.

    -Knowledge of all procedures and policies used within the food and beverage operation and Company preferred.

    -Ability to remain organized and upbeat while busy.

    -Ability to prioritize workload and perform duties within specific timelines.

    -Ability to communicate in a positive and professional manner with coworkers and guests.

    -Current Oregon Food Handlers card required; Company will provide opportunity for certification for employees not in possession of up-to-date card. (Only the 5-year ServSafe program is recognized in Oregon.)

    -First Aid and CPR preferred.

    -Physically able to: repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds, repeatedly twist/bend/reach throughout shift, stand/walk steadily throughout shift, work a full shift getting only those breaks as required by Oregon state law, work under normal Food and Beverage conditions including heat, steam, grease, noise, coolers, wet floors, inclement weather, etc., repeatedly climb and descend stairs throughout workday.
