Overview

Fun and exciting fast paced retail environment that provides you the opportunity to live and work in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Our Retail Associate staff members provide superior levels of guest service each and every day of our operating season. We maintain a high level of store standards at all times. Your day will consist of operating our POS (Point of Sale System), stocking, merchandising, refilling coffee service stations, cleaning and constant guest interaction. Daily interaction includes helping guests find what they need in the store, ringing sales into the POS system, directing them to services in the area, and recommending hikes, drives, and activities to enhance their time in the park.  In order to work in our retail establishments in Glacier National Park you must be a fun outgoing person that loves to interact with people. We provide exceptional service to thousands of guests a day. From selling firewood and cold beverages to showcasing camping gear and GNP apparel, your job is to make sure that guests can find what they need, feel welcome in our store, and leave the shop satisfied. We strive to serve guests in a professional and timely manner, and multi-tasking abilities and a positive attitude are a must. Associates should expect to work 36-46 hours a week and be flexible in regards to scheduling.

Responsibilities

  1. Assist the guest and manage inventory by accurately recording purchases on computer-based retail Raymark system.
  2. Provide excellent guest service by adhering to Xanterra’s hospitality standards.
  3. Successfully demonstrate good sales techniques by performing suggestive selling and add-on sales.
  4. Performing cashiering duties properly. Ring up sale before taking money, call out amount tendered in ‘Dollars and Cents”, place bills horizontally under clip, count back change from amount due to amount tendered.
  5. Stock product as necessary, make sure all displays are kept stocked, neat and clean within the guidelines of the Retail Merchandising Manual.
  6. If placed at a Campstore, the following responsibilities apply:
    1. Bagging and stocking Ice Machines frequently.
    2. Keeping all food service items clean per Health Regulations; includes washing some dishes daily.
    3. Stocking of bundled firewood multiple times per day.
    4. Stocking cooler and grocery items using the “First In, First Out” system to keep products fresh.
  7. If placed at a Gift Shop, the following responsibilities apply:
    1. Help unload deliveries and maintain organization in the stock area and on the sales floor.
    2. Gain product knowledge and use it to suggest items to guests. Know where product is located on the sales floor and how to direct guests to it.
  8. Maintain a safe work area. Keep the sales floor clean, this includes sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and trash removal.
  9. Comply with Xanterra’s Environmental Management Systems (Ecologix) and look for ways to improve the impact your job has on the environment.
  10. Assist with inventory control, receiving and merchandise display.
  11. Discuss concerns with Managers only.  Alert manager to shrinkage, guest problems and concerns. Maintain a good working relationship with Managers and co-workers.
  12. Give accurate helpful information to Glacier Park Visitors.
  13. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Able to operate a cash register, handle cash accurately, open and close the store with or without assistance. Assist in maintaining proper sales records. 
  2. Demonstrate a basic understanding of Campstore procedures by completing the Campstore Training Program.
  3. Able to function with flexibility and courteous behavior in a high traffic seasonal retail operation.
  4. Acquire and demonstrate a basic knowledge of product information when used as part of a professional sales approach.
  5. Able to work with a minimum of supervision, maintain excellent attendance and punctuality. Take breaks in appropriate area for limited time and use the time clock correctly.
  6. Show an awareness of inventory control through efficient management of assigned merchandise section, with attention to pilferage protection.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

  1. Able to stand/walk for a minimum eight-hour shift.
  2. Frequently lift and carry cartons weighing up to 50 lbs.
  3. Carry boxes/product up and down stairs at most locations several times a day.
  4. Must be able to bend down or kneel to stock product frequently during a shift.
