Overview

Under direction of Housekeeping Manager this position is responsible for the efficient and quality cleaning of hotel carpets of assigned areas in guest rooms, common areas, hallways, etc. This position may be assigned other duties to facilitate guest services and efficient management of the hotel staff.

Responsibilities

 

  • Fully understand and support Xanterra Mission Statement and Core Values.             
  • Greet all guests with an appropriate welcoming gesture, hold door and assist guests with any directions or questions as necessary.
  • Clean Carpets in the Hotel (Use list received from management of vacant rooms; remove furniture and place on beds, fill machine with clean water and shampoo, clean carpet, place fans until carpet is dry, replace furniture and turn room over to Front Desk, returning assignment sheet to housekeeping management)
  • Keep machinery clean and in good working order.
  • Responsible for cleaning carpets in depot offices, hallways and meeting rooms in hotel, along with chairs/furniture when needed.
  • Responsible for documenting and keeping accurate records and tracking of assigned carpet cleanings.
  • Responsible for cleaning all slab floors in lobby along with entryways on north and south entrances of hotel
  • Responsible for assisting in stocking linen closets and putting away incoming orders; on occasion, special assignments will be given, helping the hotel team.
  • On occasion must also assist the Bell/Utility and Common Area Attendant. (Please see Bell Staff/Utility and Common Area Attendant Job Descriptions as this is inclusive of the Carpet Cleaners duties).
  • Assist the Front Desk in delivering messages, running errands, providing information and directions to facilitate guest’s needs.
  • Adhere to all Xanterra Grand Canyon Railway lost and found procedures.
  • Adhere to all safety and risk management policies management as necessary.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment as required while performing job.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for reporting any maintenance issues and changing accessible light bulbs as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned to facilitate the quality of service of hotel staff to support guest services which may require the transportation of luggage and pushing/pulling linen carts, etc. throughout the course of the shift

Qualifications

  • Must be customer service oriented with the ability to communicate in a friendly manner to guests.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to read and follow detailed directions to ensure safe and proper operation of machinery.
  • Ability to perform the physical aspects of the job, pulling/pushing, bending, twisting, frequently lifting and moving furniture.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks without close supervision.
  • Willingness to help out in all areas of the housekeeping department to facilitate services to guests and efficient management of the hotel.
