This position is based in the northern end of the world's first national park, Yellowstone. The Fixed Asset Accountant is responsible for asset record keeping.  This includes data entry, physical auditing, reconciliations and report preparation.  The Fixed Asset Accountant will also help accounting and other departments with various projects.


  1. Responsible for Lawson Asset Management reporting.
  2. Assist in ensuring that property assets are properly maintained on Maximo. Expanded role in setting cost management project in Maximo.  In addition, create contract and PO in Maximo.  Enter receivers for invoices into Maximo.  Generate and review project reports generated by Maximo.
  3. Reconcile corporate owned assets between Maximo and Lawson systems each month.
  4. Assist in preparing LSI submittals to NPS.
  5. Assist in preparing CEA's for submission to corporate, reviewing for accuracy and completeness.
  6. Assist in processing and monitoring all CEA payments, ensuring accuracy and maintaining records of payments.
  7. Complete assigned reporting duties up to and including helping to prepare a portion of the annual NPS financial report.
  8. Add, move, modify, transfer, and decommission assets on Maximo as required.
  9. Work with all departments to ensure assets are correct on Maximo.
  10. Manage and direct the tagging of newly purchased and found assets, and work with other departments to ensure they properly identify and tag assets in their domain. Help with physical tagging if necessary.
  11. Set up new general ledger accounts on Maximo as needed.
  12. Complete physical auditing of assets at park-wide locations.
  13. Participates in the month-end closing process as directed.
  14. Maintain proper record retention.
  15. Attend required training courses.
  16. Adhere to all safety, environmental, and ergonomic policies.
  17. High level of attention to detail and strong emphasis on accuracy.
  18. Confidential handling of work issues as well as all areas of the General Accounting Office.
  19. Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  20. Maintain a professional attitude, behavior and appearance while on duty and in dealing with employees.
  21. Other projects and duties as assigned.



  1. Accounting degree and/or related work experience.
  2. Direct experience in Asset Management processes and procedures.
  3. Experience with Construction project management preferred.
  4. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Strong analytical skills.
  6. Motivational, organizational, and time management skills.
  7. Knowledge of general office procedures.
  8. Possess a valid driver’s license.
  9. Office machine skills, especially PC experience.
  10. Strong experience with Excel.
  11. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Maximo.



The Senior Fixed Asset Accountant works for the majority of time sitting at a desk, but will be required to physically audit / tag equipment at any of our park-wide locations. Walking, standing, kneeling and bending are required when tagging or verifying tags and serial numbers on physical equipment. Lifting and transporting up to 25 pounds is required for record storage.
